Did Someone Say Extra Time?
How are we in August already? Not sure about you, but I find it so interesting how time can just sneak up on us like that.
Speaking of time. Last week, I was surprised when my husband and I successfully got our toddler out of the house earlier than expected and with no crying. Anyone with little ones understands that it can be quite a process getting your kid out of the house especially... when they are fixated on playing with some toy at home and you have to figure out a creative way to entice them out the door. When it actually goes smoothly, without the fit, it’s considered a huge win.
Anyway, I noticed that I ended up with some extra time to spare before my next client and rather than just scrambling from one thing to the next, I found myself a bit surprised that I could choose what I wanted to do with it. I have to admit, that it felt really nice. More often than not, we are expressing what we don’t have time for. You hear it often: “I don’t have time to….”
But sometimes, our schedules work and things go smoothly leaving us with some unexpected time to do with as we choose. What if you took that spare time and instead of trying to be productive with emails or work, you do something else and use it for what I call "self-care time”. Here are a few ideas on what you can do with the unexpected spare time:
Quick workout circuit? Or stretch time? (As a fitness trainer, this one is always my first go to, 😉)
Breathing exercises that will help you decrease stress, alleviate back pain and improve posture? (I have a great one in my free Wellness Guide)
Rather than an on-the-go snack, eat a real meal with time to chew (like I say to my 2 year old: “chew chew chew”)
Meditation
When you find yourself with a little time to spare, what will you do with it? You may find that this happens more often than you think and I am here to remind you that those small moments of short bursts of movement, healthy eats, and self-care all add up to a much steadier and lasting transformation.
In my 1 on 1 sessions, the topic of time comes up often. Share your comments below and If you would like to explore this idea further as to how it could apply to you , REPLY HERE
Have a wonderful day, and more to come soon!
