Traffic Jam & Improved Health?
I was on my way to an appointment the other day after having just dropped my son off at daycare. I was feeling like I was doing really well on time. In fact, I was on track to being early.
Which felt like a huge accomplishment in and of itself.
Until I got stuck. In a traffic jam. On a road that is normally free and clear of traffic at that same time.
I know…. I live in LA, so I should just expect it, but still… It was an unexpected traffic jam.
And then I realized I was at ease with this situation, and instead of getting frustrated, I just thought, “don’t worry, I will get there….eventually.” Must be all of this meditation that I’m doing that’s paying off, and I am now clearly calm as a cucumber. 😉
So how does this relate to fitness & nutrition?
Well, people will often be on some wellness plan where they are actually doing really well until they hit an unexpected traffic jam in their wellness road.
Examples of an unexpected snag include: all of a sudden you have a busy week at work which turns into 2-3 busy weeks; the school calls because your kid is sick so you have to pick him up; you have guests in town so you can’t do your normal workout routine…the list goes on.
That jam then becomes the thing that completely throws you off and makes it impossible for you to continue on, so you give up or stop and wait way too long (months and months) before you feel ready to start back up again.
But what if you just take that unexpected traffic jam in your life today, or this week, and put yourself in the mindset that it will clear up soon. Don’t let one bad day or a couple of busy hectic weeks completely derail you from your health and wellness plan. Once the road is clear, you will be moving toward your goal once again.
